Information security compliance and governance

We implement the technical controls required by Peru’s Law 29733 on personal data protection, ISO 27001 readiness and the security requirements of the SBS, with documentation that backs up every measure.

Law 29733: technical measures to protect personal data

Peru’s Law No. 29733, the Personal Data Protection Law, and its regulations require organizations that process personal data to adopt technical, organizational and legal security measures. On the technical side, this means knowing where the data is, who accesses it, how its use is logged, how it is backed up and how an incident is handled.

Our work begins with an inventory of the systems that hold personal data, from the CRM to email and shared spreadsheets. We then compare existing controls with what the law requires and propose a prioritized plan. Legal interpretation and registration of data banks are coordinated with your legal advisor; we make sure the technical measures exist and work.

Why does compliance need technical controls?

Data protection and information security rules are not met with written policies alone. They require concrete technical measures: access control, activity logging, backup, encryption, incident management and periodic security assessment. Without those measures, a policy stays on paper.

Law 29733 provides for penalties that can reach significant amounts for those who do not adequately protect personal data. Entities supervised by the SBS are also subject to specific information security and cybersecurity regulations.

  • Controlled access and privileges
  • Activity logs and traceability
  • Backup and recovery of information
  • Incident management and reporting

ISO 27001 readiness

ISO/IEC 27001 is the international standard for information security management systems. Certification shows customers and partners that the organization manages its risks systematically. Certification is granted by an accredited body; our role is to prepare your organization for that process.

We carry out the gap analysis, support the risk assessment and help implement technical controls such as access management, event logging, backup and secure communications. Cybersecurity assessments provide the testing evidence the standard values.

Entities supervised by the SBS

Companies in the financial system, insurers and pension fund administrators are subject to regulations from Peru’s Superintendency of Banking, Insurance and AFP on information security and cybersecurity management. These regulations require, among other measures, controls over cloud services, incident management, security testing and continuity.

We support these entities with a technical assessment against the regulation, implementation of controls and preparation of evidence. Recovery requirements can be addressed together with our business continuity service, and cloud requirements with our cloud solutions.

Security governance day to day

Compliance does not end with an audit. It requires reviewing access periodically, keeping logs, updating policies when systems change and measuring indicators. We define with you the owners, procedures and reviews needed to keep controls in force, and we can include their follow-up in our managed services.

Evidence that stands up to an audit

In an audit, a supervisory review or a request from a corporate customer, it is not enough to say a control exists: you have to prove it. That is why every control we implement comes with its evidence, such as access logs, user review reports, restore test results or security assessment reports.

We organize that evidence by standard and by control, with dates and owners, so your team can present it without rebuilding it every time. The evidence is updated at each periodic review.

Suppliers and cloud services

Much of an organization’s information now lives in third-party services: public clouds, email, CRM or payment platforms. Data protection laws and sector regulations require control over those suppliers: knowing what data they process, where they store it, what security measures they apply and what happens to the information when the contract ends.

We help you inventory these services, review their configuration and document the controls, so that using the cloud does not become a compliance gap.

Indicators management can follow

Compliance is easier to sustain when management can see how it is progressing. We propose a short set of indicators, such as the percentage of accounts with multi-factor authentication, the number of high-risk findings open, the date of the last successful restore test or the time taken to remove access when someone leaves the organization.

These indicators are reviewed periodically and turn security into a topic that can be managed with data, not only with good intentions.

We agree the indicators with you at the start, so the first review already shows a baseline against which progress can be measured.

Frequently asked questions

Can’t find your answer? Contact us.

Do you provide legal advice?

No. We take care of the technical side of compliance. Interpretation of the law, contracts and filings with the authority are coordinated with your legal department or your organization’s law firm.

Do you certify ISO 27001?

No. Certification is granted by an accredited, independent body. We prepare your organization: gap analysis, risk assessment and implementation of technical controls.

Who does Law 29733 apply to?

To organizations that process personal data in Peru, such as data on customers, employees or suppliers. Your legal advisor can confirm your specific obligations; we help you implement the security measures.

Where should we start?

With a gap assessment: it identifies which controls already exist, which are missing and which are most urgent according to risk. A realistic plan is built from that result.

Do you work with entities supervised by the SBS?

Yes. We support them with a technical assessment against the information security and cybersecurity regulation, implementation of controls and preparation of evidence for supervision.

Does compliance require security assessments?

Several standards and regulations require periodic security assessment. Our vulnerability assessments and penetration tests provide that evidence and are integrated into the compliance plan.

How long does it take to prepare for an audit?

It depends on the distance between current controls and those the standard requires. The gap analysis estimates the effort and produces a realistic schedule, with the most urgent actions first.
